U13 A vs Hitchin boys’ school matchday report

We arrived at 9 o’clock to be greated by a glorious sunny morning, perfect for playing rugby. We were all excited and nervous for the first match of the season by, the time we started warming up. To prepare ourselves for the match ahead we started with some stretches which progressed into an L shaped passing drill. After the warmups we moved to the park pitch ready for battle. During the first five minutes we learned that Hitchin were a well organised and drilled side and it would take skill, strength, resilience and power to beat them. It took a few minutes for Habs to wake up and by that point in time we were already a few try’s down. But then we started to venture into their half and make some great runs. Unfortunately, we never quite reached their line but got very close in some attempts. Soon it was half time and we made changes to the line-up and rethought our game plan in order to adapt to their strong side. Unfortunately, we still couldn’t manage to break through there robust defence. Time soon ran out and we didn’t manage to score but we still stood our ground and never gave up and put in an all-round mighty performance. We look forward to improving our tackling, depth and support in future training sessions and are hoping for a win against QE boys on Monday.
