The Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School Boys-U18A vs  The John Lyon School
On: Wednesday, 16 Oct 2019
Venue: Away

The Habs 1st XI travelled to play John Lyon school on Wednesday afternoon. Habs started strong with some excellent passes and some brilliant football with some early chances coming close to opening the scoring. The deadlock was broken early in the first half by Ed Cleaver who finished superbly putting the ball into the top right corner whilst on the turn. This goal allowed Habs to gain a foothold on the game and we were unlucky to not score another with both Viren Dulabh and Ben Bellman coming close. Defensively Habs looked strong despite facing spells of pressure. Excellent saves from keeper Kazim Yurtseven and strong challenges from Zack Francis and Ben Bellman ensured that Habs went into half time with a 1-0 lead. Throughout the the second half, Habs seemed to be in control and good strikes from Viren Dulabh, Hugo Bach and a delightful chip from Ed Cleaver could have sealed the victory but with the scores at 1-0 the team had to survive a few nervous moments. The Habs boys showed real grit and held on for the win with every single one of them working to maintain the lead with some critical blocks made and another two saves by Kazim Yurtseven. Another very encouraging performance from the young Habs team.
