Match Report
The Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School Boys-U18A vs  Eton College
On: Saturday, 21 Sep 2019
Venue: at Home

The Habs 1st XI kicked off their second fixture of the season against Eton College. Following on from a midweek game against Immanuel, the team were eager to maintain their perfect start with another win against a tough opponent. The weather was good, albeit a little bit hot, and Habs were eager to put right a loss against the same opponents last season. Despite the team making a slow start, Ed Cleaver won a penalty which Ben Bellman calmly dispatched to put Habs in the driving seat. After a quick drinks break, an even first half was topped off when a deep Dan Rossiter free-kick was headed across the box by Ben Bellman for Ed Cleaver to finish coolly. We knew Eton would be fit and were willing to run for the whole match regardless of the score so went into the second half expecting a reaction from the visitors. We started comfortably, playing our own game but as Eton’s superior fitness showed, a ‘backs-to-the-wall’ performance was needed. Ethan Fox made a few vital saves in the closing minutes and a solid defensive performance helped to maintain our clean sheet and overall 100% record with a 2-0 victory.

Man of the Match for the day was Ben Bellman with a stellar captain’s performance, orchestrating the back line throughout the game and showing immense passion in the final minutes. We look forward to an ISFA Cup fixture against City of London, a very tough opponent, on Wednesday as we look to keep our record going and reach the next round of the cup.
